Your participation in the annual UVair EFSL program can provide you with increased flexibility and help to ensure that you receive invoices with the correct application of VAT charges up front. While declaration forms may be submitted at any point during a calendar year, completing the enrollment process before January 1 can help to ensure VAT charges are correctly applied from the start of that calendar year.

Airline

You operate a minimum 50% of your flights carrying passengers or goods for reward on international routes and therefore may qualify for VAT exempt fuel invoicing as an airline under the EU Principal VAT Directive/Article 148-E.

The definition of an airline is as follows:

  • The majority of your turnover arises from carrying passengers and goods for reward, and
  • Your flights are mainly on international routes

The definition of international routes is as follows:

  • Routes between two countries or in some instances, routes outside of the country of reference on the UVair EFSL declaration form.

2012 Airline Declaration Form

Non-Airline

  • You operate for reward but do not meet the percentage criteria as mentioned above and hold a fiscal ID number*
  • You operate in connection with business activities and hold a fiscal ID number
  • You operate in conjunction with NATO activities, or
  • Flights in connection with diplomatic, consular or International Organizations such as the United Nations, World Bank, International Monetary Fund, European Union, etc.
Fiscal ID number is your business (taxpayer) registration ID number issued by the country where you have registered your business; this country can also be considered the home base for your business.

If your operations do not fall into any of the categories above, you are not entitled to exemption from VAT in any of the 18 countries listed above. You will still receive VAT-compliant Jet A-1 fuel invoicing from UVair European Fuelling Services Limited. Full details of payment options can be found on these invoices. Add UVair European Fuelling Services Limited as a vendor by accessing payment information now or request a W-8.

Step 3:
Send us your form

  • E-mail (eurofuel@uvair.com) or fax (+353 612 80399) your completed declaration form to our UVair European Fuelling Services team, who will coordinate with you to finalize necessary information
  • Mail an original copy of the form to [*this is a legal requirement from all tax authorities]:

Step 4:
Receive confirmation via email from your UVair European Fuelling Services team

Your confirmation email will advise in which countries you have qualified for exemption and any additional information relevant to your application.

Important information

Invoicing

VAT-exempt and VAT-compliant invoices in the 18 listed countries will be invoiced separately through the UVair European Fuelling Services entity, and will be generated on a daily and as-received basis. These VAT-compliant invoices will be delivered through methods indicated by your regular UVair invoice delivery preferences (e.g. e-mail, postal mail, fax).

Payment

VAT-exempt and VAT-compliant invoices will be issued through UVair European Fuelling Services Limited. Universal® and UVair are unable to accept payments for VAT-compliant invoices issued by UVair European Fuelling Services Limited. Add UVair European Fuelling Services Limited as a vendor by accessing payment information now or request a W-8. You will continue to receive your regular Universal invoice for Jet-A fuel transactions outside of the 18 listed countries, and for services not related to fuel transactions.
